Overview :
Your day begins with a morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. We will head out toward the High Atlas Mountains, taking the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, a breathtaking route winding through spectacular mountain landscapes with peaks reaching over 2,200 meters. Along the way, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to stop and capture photographs of the dramatic scenery and Berber villages scattered along the road.
We’ll arrive at Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic ksars (fortified villages). This stunning earthen architecture has been featured in numerous international films such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy. Your expert local guide will lead you through narrow alleys lined with ancient kasbahs, explaining the rich history, architecture, and culture of the site.
You’ll have time to explore the village, visit artisan shops, and take in panoramic views from the hilltop lookout, where you can admire the entire ksar framed against the surrounding desert and mountains.
For lunch, we’ll stop at a traditional Moroccan restaurant nearby where you can savor local dishes such as tagine or couscous while enjoying views of the striking landscape.
On the return journey to Marrakech, you’ll pass again through the High Atlas Mountains, with opportunities for more photo stops and brief visits to traditional Berber villages. You’ll be back in Marrakech by the evening, having experienced one of Morocco’s most remarkable cultural treasures.
