Day 1: Ouarzazate ➝ Agdez ➝ Draa Valley ➝ Merzouga Desert (Luxury Camp Night)

We begin your journey from Ouarzazate, often called the “door to the desert.” After breakfast, we travel south at a relaxed pace, passing through the long Draa Valley, a beautiful oasis filled with thousands of palm trees, quiet kasbahs, and traditional Berber villages.

Our first stop is Agdez, a calm town surrounded by soft mountain views. Here, you can visit the Tamnougalt Kasbah, an ancient fortress that holds the history and charm of southern Morocco. It is a peaceful place to walk, explore, and take in the atmosphere of old desert life.

As we continue, the landscapes slowly change from green valleys to open desert plains. By the afternoon, we reach Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Here, your camels will be waiting for a gentle sunset camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. The dunes glow beautifully in the evening light a moment that feels calm, warm, and unforgettable.

When the sun begins to set, we arrive at our luxury desert camp, where you will be welcomed with mint tea and friendly smiles. In the evening, enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner under a sky full of stars. After dinner, relax around the campfire as you listen to Berber drumming and desert songs.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert ➝ 4×4 Excursion ➝ Nomad Families ➝ Khamlia Village ➝ Hotel Beside the Dunes

We start the morning by waking you gently before sunrise, giving you time to enjoy one of the most peaceful moments in Morocco  watching the sunrise over the Sahara dunes. The soft colors of the desert at this time of day are truly magical. After breakfast at the camp, we begin our calm and exciting 4×4 desert adventure around Merzouga.

Our first stop is Khamlia Village, known for its warm people and traditional Gnawa music. Here, you can sit with local musicians, feel the deep rhythm of their drums, and listen to songs that carry the history and soul of the desert.

Next, we drive deeper into the desert to meet nomad families who still live in simple tents made of wool. We sit with them, share tea, and listen to their stories about life in the desert. Their kindness, simplicity, and connection to nature make this moment one of the most touching parts of the day.

We also visit the M’fis fossil area, where old mines hide pieces of ancient desert history, and stop at the seasonal lake of Sriji. When the lake has water, flamingos and other birds rest quietly on its surface, creating a peaceful and beautiful scene.

In the afternoon, we take you to your hotel beside the dunes, a relaxing place with a swimming pool and wide views of the desert. It is the perfect spot to rest, swim, take photos, or enjoy a slow sunset walk after a full day of discovery.

Day 3: Merzouga ➝ Rissani ➝ Todra Gorge ➝ Dades Valley

After breakfast, we softly say goodbye to the Sahara dunes and begin our journey toward Rissani, a small desert town known for its rich history and traditional market. Here, you can walk through the lively souk, see fresh dates, spices, and handmade crafts, and feel the warm spirit of local life.

We then continue toward the impressive Todra Gorge, one of the most beautiful natural places in Morocco. The tall red cliffs rise high above a quiet river, creating a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. You can take a slow walk through the gorge, enjoy the cool air, or relax with a cup of tea at a small café by the water a perfect moment for photos and calm memories.

After enjoying Todra Gorge, we drive toward the charming Dades Valley, often called the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” As we travel through the valley, you will see red rock formations, green gardens, and small Berber villages where life moves gently and quietly.

In the evening, we arrive at your cozy mountain hotel, where you can rest, enjoy a warm dinner, and take in the soft views of the valley as the sun sets.

Day 4: Dades Valley ➝ Roses Valley ➝ Skoura Oasis ➝ Ouarzazate

After breakfast, we begin our relaxed journey back toward Ouarzazate, following one of the most beautiful roads in southern Morocco. The scenery slowly changes as we leave the mountains behind and enter the gentle landscapes of the Roses Valley. In spring, this valley becomes full of pink Damascus roses, and local families collect the petals to make natural rose oil and perfume. If you wish, we can stop at a small cooperative to see how the rose products are made and enjoy the soft fragrance.

We then continue to the peaceful Skoura Oasis, a green paradise filled with tall palm trees and hidden kasbahs. Here, we visit the famous Amridil Kasbah, one of the best-preserved kasbahs in Morocco. Its traditional walls, quiet courtyards, and simple beauty make it a very special place to walk and take photos.

By the afternoon, we arrive in Ouarzazate, a calm city known as the “door to the desert.” You will have time to visit the Taourirt Kasbah or explore the world-famous film studios where movies like Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and The Mummy were filmed. It’s a lovely way to end your journey, with a mix of culture, history, and local stories.

Day 5: Ouarzazate ➝ Aït Ben Haddou ➝ High Atlas Mountains ➝ Marrakech

After breakfast, we begin the last part of your journey toward Marrakech, traveling at a relaxed pace so you can enjoy every moment of the day.
Our first stop is the legendary Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most famous film locations in Morocco. As you walk through its old mud-brick alleys and climb to the top, you’ll feel the history, the beauty, and the magic that attracted movies like Game of Thrones, Gladiator, and many others.

From here, we continue our drive through the beautiful High Atlas Mountains. The road winds between valleys and mountain peaks, offering stunning views all along the way. We cross the Tizi n’Tichka Pass the highest road in Morocco where the fresh air and wide landscapes create a peaceful and unforgettable scene.

By the afternoon, we reach Marrakech, the vibrant Red City. This is where our adventure together comes to an end. You arrive with a full heart carrying stories, memories, warm encounters, and the quiet magic of the Sahara that will stay with you forever.

What should I pack for the desert?

 

We recommend bringing light clothes for the daytime and a warm jacket for the night, as desert temperatures can change quickly. Comfortable shoes are helpful for walking on the sand.
Don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat to protect you from the sun.
And of course  bring your camera. The Sahara is full of beautiful moments you’ll want to remember.

How is the weather in the desert?

The desert is usually warm and sunny during the day, but the nights can feel cool, especially from November to March.
In summer, afternoons can be hot, but the evenings are usually pleasant.
At Morocco Desert Safari, we always prepare your hotel and desert camp to make sure you feel comfortable in any season.

Food Preferences ?

We happily adapt meals to your needs. Whether you prefer vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or have specific allergies, just tell us in advance and we will prepare the right food for you..

What type of vehicle do you use for the tour?

We use modern, clean, and comfortable 4×4 vehicles or spacious vans, depending on your group size. All vehicles have air-conditioning to keep your journey pleasant.

How long is the drive to Merzouga?

It takes around 6–7 hours from Ouarzazate with scenic stops along the way. that way we will stop frist night in Dades Valley 

Do I need travel insurance?

It’s not required, but we recommend having basic travel insurance for peace of mind, especially when traveling in remote desert areas.
