Morocco fes sahara desert tours
Why Choose A Fes Sahara Desert Tour?
A journey from Fes to the Sahara Desert is much more than a transfer between two destinations. It is one of Morocco’s most beautiful road trips, taking you through landscapes that change dramatically with every hour of travel.
Leaving the historic streets of Fes behind, you’ll travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, pass charming mountain towns, explore cedar forests where Barbary macaques roam freely, and admire the breathtaking views of the Ziz Valley before reaching the golden dunes of Merzouga. Along the way, you’ll discover a side of Morocco that many visitors never see.
Our Fes Sahara Desert Tours are designed to let you enjoy the journey as much as the destination. With carefully planned stops, comfortable travel, and authentic local experiences, every day offers something new to discover.
A Journey Through Morocco’s Changing Landscapes
From mountain scenery and cedar forests to lush oases and endless dunes, few routes in Morocco offer such a variety of landscapes in a single trip.
Experience The Magic Of Erg Chebbi
Home to some of the highest dunes in Morocco, Erg Chebbi offers unforgettable sunsets, peaceful desert mornings, and breathtaking views across the Sahara.
Memories That Last Long After The Journey Ends
Ride a camel across the dunes, watch the sunset over the desert, enjoy traditional Berber hospitality, and spend an unforgettable night beneath a sky filled with stars.
Travel With A Local Sahara Family
At Morocco Desert Safari, we are a local team running a company from Merzouga. The desert is not simply a place we visit with travelers; it is our home. Our local knowledge, personal service, and passion for Morocco help create experiences that feel genuine, comfortable, and memorable.

Frequently Asked Questions About Fes sahara desert tours
How far is the Sahara from Fes, really?
About 470 km, 7 to 8 hours non-stop. Nobody does it non-stop. We split it over the trip so the drive isn’t the worst part of your holiday.
Two days, three days, or four?
Three is what we tell most people, and most people are happy they listened. Two works if you’re genuinely short on time, but it’s a lot of driving for not much desert. Four is better if gorges and valleys matter to you as much as the dunes.
Is it actually private, or will we be grouped with other tourists?
Just your group, your vehicle, your driver. We don’t run shared shuttles
Do we ride camels both ways?
Yes, sunset out, sunrise back, unless you’d rather take the 4×4 one way, plenty of guests do.
Can the tour end in Marrakech instead of coming back to Fes?
Yes, the 3 and 4-day routes both work one-way to Marrakech. Just tell us when you book.
Best time of year for this?
March to May, or September to November. July and August get genuinely hot in the desert during the day. January nights in camp are cold, bring a real jacket, not a windbreaker.
