We begin your day gently around 9:00 AM, when we meet you at your hotel or riad in Merzouga. You can take a moment to relax before we start, and our friendly local guide will help you feel comfortable and ready for the journey ahead. Once you are settled in our private 4×4, we start driving toward Rissani, the first capital of the Alaouite dynasty and one of the oldest markets in southern Morocco.
In Rissani Old Market, you will walk through the traditional souk filled with spices, fresh dates, handmade crafts, local products, and warm smiles from the people who live here. We take our time, explain the market’s history, and let you experience the authentic atmosphere of daily life in the desert.
After Rissani, we continue across wide open desert plains toward the famous Desert Art of Erfoud, created by the German artist Hannsjörg Voth. Here, you will see the three incredible land art sculptures – Stairway to Heaven, The Golden Spiral, and The City of Orion – rising softly from the sand. We walk with you around the artworks, enjoy the silence, take photos, and give you time to feel the deep beauty of this special place.
From there, our journey continues to Erfoud, known as the fossil capital of Morocco. We visit a local fossil workshop, where you can see how fossils are found, cleaned, and shaped by skilled artisans. It is a beautiful way to understand the ancient history of the Sahara and the work of the local families who keep this tradition alive.
After the visit, we will drive you back to Merzouga at a calm and comfortable pace. You can relax in the car, enjoy the desert views, and reflect on everything you experienced during the day.
