Day 1: Arrival in Errachidia - Ziz Valley - Merzouga - Camel Ride - Desert Camp
Your adventure begins when we meet you in Errachidia, either at the airport or at your hotel. From the first moment, we make sure you feel welcomed, comfortable, and excited for your desert journey with Morocco Desert Safari.
We start our drive through the beautiful Ziz Valley, a place full of palm trees, old kasbahs, and peaceful Berber villages. As we travel together, you will see wide open landscapes and soft desert colors the perfect introduction to the warm beauty of southern Morocco.
By the afternoon, we reach Merzouga, where your camels are waiting for a gentle sunset camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. As you ride, you can watch the sky slowly change from bright gold to soft orange and pink. Day 2: Merzouga - Khamlia Village - Nomad Families - Desert Exploration - Relaxing Hotel Beside the Dunes
Your second day in the Sahara begins with a soft sunrise over the dunes. We gently wake you so you can enjoy this peaceful moment, watching the warm light touch the golden sand. After breakfast at our camp, we start our private 4×4 desert exploration, taking you deeper into the heart of Merzouga.
Our first stop is Khamlia Village, home of the famous Gnawa musicians. Here, you can sit with us and enjoy live traditional music, feel the rhythm of the drums, and learn about the African-Berber culture that gives this village its soul. The musicians welcome you like family and share their beautiful “desert soul music” with you.
We then continue driving through the desert to visit nomad families who still live in simple tents made of wool. This is one of the most touching moments of the day. Together, we sit with the families, share a cup of fresh mint tea, listen to their stories, and learn how they live with nature, camels, and the silence of the Sahara. It’s a warm cultural exchange that stays in your memory.
If you are interested, we can also take you to the M’fis fossil mines, located on a hill with amazing views of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Before tourism grew, many local people worked here, searching for ancient fossils and minerals. Even today, nomads go down more than 50 meters into the earth to find these treasures. Visiting the mines helps you understand the real history and hard work behind life in Merzouga.
Next, we head to the peaceful Sriji Lake (seasonal). When the lake is full, it becomes a quiet home for migratory birds, including pink flamingos. From here, you can enjoy one of the most stunning panoramas in Merzouga’s golden dunes on one side and dark mountains on the other.
Our desert excursion is fully private and flexible, usually 3,4 hours, and we follow your rhythm. If you have your own car, we will send you the meeting point. If not, we pick you up and drop you off wherever you stay, hotel, riad, or desert camp.

Day 3: Merzouga - Ziz Valley - Midelt - Ifrane - Fes
After breakfast at your hotel, we begin our journey toward Fes, taking you through some of the most beautiful and peaceful landscapes in Morocco. As we leave Merzouga behind, you’ll watch the golden dunes slowly fade into the wide Ziz Valley, with its long palm groves and soft desert colors.
We continue our drive through Erfoud and the Middle Atlas Mountains, where the scenery changes completely from dry desert to green fields, rocky hills, and cool, fresh air. Around midday, we stop in Midelt for lunch and a short rest before continuing our way north.
Our road takes us through the cedar forests near Azrou, where you may see friendly wild monkeys playing among the trees. It’s a lovely place to stretch your legs, take photos, and enjoy the quiet nature.
A little later, we pass through Ifrane, a charming mountain town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” because of its clean streets, green parks, and Alpine-style architecture. It offers a refreshing change of scenery before reaching the city.
