Frequently Asked Questions AboutMerzouga Desert Tours
How do I get to Merzouga from Marrakech or Fes?
Merzouga is approximately 9 hours from Marrakech and 7 hours from Fes by road. Our private transfers include regular stops to enjoy Morocco’s beautiful landscapes, local cafés, and panoramic viewpoints. If you prefer a shorter journey, you can also fly to Errachidia Airport (ERH), where our team will be happy to welcome you and transfer you to Merzouga in less than two hours.
Is camel trekking included in your Merzouga Desert Tours?
Yes. Most of our Merzouga Desert Tours include a sunset or sunrise camel trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. Our experienced camel guides ensure a relaxed and enjoyable ride for first-time visitors, couples, families, and solo travellers. If you prefer not to ride a camel, a comfortable 4×4 transfer to the desert camp can always be arranged.
Are Merzouga Desert Tours suitable for families?
Absolutely. Merzouga is one of Morocco’s best destinations for families. Children enjoy camel rides, sandboarding, and the open space of the Sahara, while parents appreciate the peaceful atmosphere and comfortable accommodation. Our private tours can also be adapted to suit families travelling with young children.
Can I spend more than one night in the Sahara Desert?
Of course. While one night offers a wonderful introduction to the Sahara, we recommend staying for two nights whenever possible. This gives you time to enjoy a 4×4 desert excursion, visit Khamlia Village, meet local nomad families, watch both sunrise and sunset over the dunes, and experience the desert at a slower pace.
What should I bring for a Sahara Desert experience?
We recommend comfortable clothing, walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a light jacket for the evening, as desert temperatures become cooler after sunset. Your accommodation provides blankets and bedding, so you only need to bring your personal belongings and your camera to capture the incredible scenery.
Why travel with Morocco Desert Safari?
Merzouga is our home, not simply a destination we visit. Our local team has grown up in the Sahara and is passionate about sharing its landscapes, traditions, and hospitality with travellers from around the world. With private tours, carefully selected desert camps, honest pricing, and personalised service, we create authentic Merzouga Desert Tours that leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
