Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Aït Ben Haddou - Draa Valley - N'Kob

Your Morocco Desert photography tour begins in Marrakech as we journey south through the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains. Crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, we’ll stop at beautiful viewpoints and traditional Berber villages, offering fantastic opportunities to capture Morocco’s mountain landscapes and daily life.

We then visit the iconic Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most photogenic kasbahs. Its ancient earthen buildings, narrow alleys, and dramatic setting make it a dream location for photographers.

Continuing through Ouarzazate and the palm filled Draa Valley, we’ll discover some of southern Morocco’s most beautiful scenery. Along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities to photograph vast palm groves, desert landscapes, and authentic local life.

As the sun begins to set, we arrive in the peaceful village of N’Kob, known for its traditional kasbahs, warm hospitality, and relaxed atmosphere the perfect place to begin our Sahara photography adventure.

Day 2: N'Kob - Rissani - Gara Medouar - Merzouga Sahara Desert

Today, we travel deeper into southern Morocco as the landscapes gradually change from desert valleys to the golden dunes of the Sahara.

Our first stop is the spectacular Gara Medouar, a dramatic rock formation rising from the desert plains. Known for its unique shape and breathtaking views, it offers incredible opportunities for landscape photography and panoramic shots.

We then continue to Rissani, a historic desert town and former caravan trading center. Its traditional market is one of the most authentic in Morocco, where colorful stalls, local craftsmen, and everyday life provide wonderful moments for documentary and cultural photography.

By the afternoon, we reach the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga. As the light softens, the Sahara becomes a paradise for photographers, with endless waves of golden sand stretching to the horizon.

Enjoy a camel trek across the dunes and capture the changing colors of the desert as the sun begins to set. This is one of the most magical moments of the journey and a highlight of any Morocco photography tour.

After sunset, arrive at your luxury desert camp and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner beneath the stars. Later, far from city lights, the Sahara offers perfect conditions for photographing the Milky Way, star trails, and one of the most beautiful night skies in Morocco

Day 3: Merzouga Sahara Experience & Desert Photography

Wake early to photograph sunrise over the dunes as the first light transforms the Sahara into a landscape of gold and orange tones.

After breakfast, begin a fascinating 4×4 desert exploration around Erg Chebbi. Visit a local nomadic family and discover their traditional way of life. As a company founded by people from the Sahara region, we enjoy sharing authentic stories and experiences that connect travelers with the local culture.

Continue to the old mining areas, desert landscapes, and traditional villages surrounding Merzouga. Visit Khamlia, known for its unique Gnawa music and colorful local traditions, providing wonderful opportunities for portrait and cultural photography.

Depending on the season, we may also visit Dayet Srij Lake, home to migratory birds including flamingos and many other species.

In the afternoon, relax at your riad before heading back into the dunes for another unforgettable Sahara sunset photography session.

Day 4: Merzouga - Erfoud Desert Art - Tinghir - Todra Gorge - Dades Valley

Leaving Merzouga behind, we travel to Erfoud, where we visit the remarkable desert land art installations created by German artist Hannsjörg Voth. These fascinating structures blend perfectly into the desert landscape and offer unique photographic compositions unlike anywhere else in Morocco.

We continue through the beautiful oasis landscapes of Tinghir before reaching the dramatic Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls create spectacular opportunities for landscape photography.

Later, we arrive in the stunning Dades Valley, famous for its unusual rock formations, mountain scenery, and winding roads. Before sunset, we visit the famous Dades Hairpin Bends viewpoint, one of Morocco’s most iconic photography locations.

Day 5: Dades Valley - Skoura - Kasbah Amridil -Telouet - Marrakech

As our 5 day Morocco Desert Photography Tour from Marrakech comes to an end, we begin the journey back to Marrakech through some of the country’s most beautiful and historic landscapes.

Travel along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping in the lush Skoura Oasis to visit the remarkable Kasbah Amridil, one of Morocco’s finest preserved kasbahs. Surrounded by palm groves and traditional architecture, it offers wonderful opportunities for photography and a final glimpse into Morocco’s rich heritage.

We then continue into the High Atlas Mountains to discover the historic Telouet Kasbah, a hidden gem filled with history, character, and stunning mountain views. It is the perfect final stop to capture the beauty and diversity of Morocco through your lens.

By late afternoon, we arrive back in Marrakech, bringing this unforgettable photography journey to a close.
